5 tips to get your life in order

Whether you are a college student or a professional, staying organized is important. As they say, organization is the key to success. But don’t worry! Im hear to guide you with a few simple, yet necessary ways to help get your life in order.

#1 Plan ahead!

Now I know you have heard this a million times, but it really is true. Can you guess what I’m about to say?? You got it, go buy a planner. I have always bought planners in the past but had trouble sticking with it. I started a routine, every Sunday night I plan out my week. I write down any important events or projects I have. I always make sure to go back and cross out things that have already happened or I have finished. This helps me feel like I’m staying on task and it helps keep track of everything I have to do.

#2 Hold yourself and others around you accountable

My biggest fault is getting myself to do things I don’t want to do. You’re not alone, I love to procrastinate too. The biggest thing when trying to put these tips in action is a support system. Tell your friends and family that you are aiming to be more organized and productive. That way if they start to see you slacking they can hold you accountable. It might not be what you want, but it is necessary to get your life organized.

#3 Get into a routine

Now I’m not saying you have to wake up everyday at 8 am and go to bed at 10 pm, but setting a routine that works for you will be beneficial in achieving what needs to be done. Personalize your schedule to allow you to get all of your work done but also sat time a part for your hobbies or other activities. A healthy, organized lifestyle will not only help you to be more successful but you may even see an effect on your happiness.

#4 Set good habits

Habits are usually looked upon from a negative standpoint, but this isn’t always true. Finding ways to turn things into healthy habits can increase your productivity in many ways. Things such as eating healthy, only allowing 2 hours of screen time a day, or even a morning run, might not necessarily seem like a habit but incorporating small goals like these will keep you busy and will allow less time for distractions. Which I personally struggle with tremendously.

#5 Organize your space

Now hear me out, I know cleaning is never fun, but a clean room or house really makes more of a difference than you’d think. When you have a clean space you are more likely to be motivated and productive. If you have to come home to a cluttered house, you will have a cluttered mind. When I have a messy room I tend to get overwhelmed with everything I need to do and I tend to procrastinate even more. So be better than me and clean your room!
